Try, Try Again

1, 2, 3… 1, 2, 3… Oh, wait- this doesn’t feel like a dance, does it? It’s day 4 of the magical steps of “1, 2, 3, happy kid and me” behavioral program. The behavioral plan is intense and hard to remember to impliment after so many years of failing with traditional methods.

If I believe that this is the behavior plan my family needs- we work hard on it! If it doesn’t make a positive difference after 3-6 weeks, we try a new one. It’s HARD trying to find the right plan fit for a family- but we have to stick it out.

It seems like we have tried a different behavioral plan with each teacher, therapist, etc. Everyone believes they have the “Magic Behavior Cure” for all children and, with desperation and the tiniest flicker of hope, we tried each one. It became hard to not want to call them snake oil salesmen for a while. Praise God, we finally (after 9 years of looking) found one that really seems to work for our family! I came to realize that it wasn’t that all of these people were talking about a bum idea- it’s just that each child needs something different.

With this in mind, I want to share the different behavioral plans and tools that I have come into contact with. Hopefully your family will benefit from one of them if you are still on the great hunt. As I get posts typed up, printables for the tools, and links to the materials, I will update this post to hold those links.
