Miracles Through Pandemic

My small faith in our family being healed has grown as I have watched and seen the huge ways that our Father is working in it.

Over the past couple of months, as we have been in the same house together all day every day; there has been a lot of healing in our family. Yes, things during this time have still often been hard. We have argued over why we have to stay home. We have tugged back and forth on timeliness for chores and limits on TV. We have had to learn about boredom eating and picking up slack in the home. However, I have seen so much growth in the maturity of my dear one. I am so proud of him!

He has learned a level of empathy I wasn’t sure that we would ever see in him. He has helped take care of the family members when they don’t feel well. He is learning simple manners that he didn’t slow down to learn before. He has become more self-aware. He is interested in learning about others. He is learning how to form his own standards for life. His emotional age is quickly catching up to his physical age. This excites me and inflates my hopes for him to have a great life!

I have seen growth in the bonds of our family, too. We are all learning to speak more calmly. We are more willing to do small favors for each other. We are sharing our feelings more openly. We try to cheer each other up if the other is discouraged. We have more compassion, awareness, and are able to understand each other better. Seeing these changes has softened my heart even more. It is enough to bring me to tears some days as I think of how different our lives are after only eight months since last Fall. Praise God, He is healing us!

With this hope, I continue to pray for not only receiving, but also my eyes being open to seeing more miracles. I had no idea that my boy had the capacity to grow this much in a few short months. My small faith in our family being healed has grown as I have watched and seen the huge ways that our Father is working in it. Mi pray that we all continue to grow closer to Him and closer together!

May all of us caregivers have softened hearts, opened eyes, and clear minds to see the miracles happening around us. May we listen for solutions to problems, and act on them. May we remember how far we have come and celebrate it! Even if you don’t think there has been improvement; may you remember that you have survived this far. That means that if you are like me, you have been given more strength through this pandemic than you thought you could be. Blessings on your reflections about this time!
